Will Smith ---> a Legend??

After seeing & hearing SOOO much hype about this movie, i decided it would OBVIOUSLY be worth my time & money. I am Legend is the third film adaptation of Richard Matheson's 1954 novel I am Legend.

Will Smith is remarkable as usual. This is a movie designed mainly for him & builds up on his talents. He's basically the only cast, so if u're his fans, u'll definitely love this show. Just like Tom Hanks did in Cast Away, Will Smith pulls off this half-insane individual role flawlessly. The character's isolation is continuously absorbing & Smith is delectably vulnerable as he wanders through his day by day survivalist routines, struggling with the severe loneliness & amiably talking to himself & his faithful German Shepard, named Sam. Smith’s effortless chemistry with this
fiercesome looking lovely dog outshines most of his performances opposite humans.

When the sun shines in the movie, it’s a four-star thriller with excellent performance from Smith. However when the moon rises, it becomes an annoyingly cheap effect horror-film. One thing to note is the special effects of the scenes settings, especially the art direction done on New York City, is fabulous. I Am Legend is a very good e.g. of film that reveals numerous plot-holes and contradictions if u muse about it too much after u’ve seen it.

In general, the storyline is all right for the first hour when it is a lean, two-character piece featuring Will Smith & the dog. Until then, particularly in a growling dogfight, the show keeps u glued to the screen. Trouble enters only when the script overcomplicates things in the end. i guess the opening act is too magnificent for the terrible ending.
