10 Promises to my Dog

This movie poster

caught my eye when i was in Japan.
Finally, managed to get to watch this film here.

10 Promises to my Dog is not just a movie about a girl & her pet. It is a journey of two best friends & how their lives intertwine in a beautiful way. Also notable in the plot, are the common social issues highlighted in the film: family vs career & personal aspiration vs parents’ expectations. The storyline link these subjects are link flawlessly giving viewers some rooms to think through.

For pet owners, this is a brilliant wake up call if you haven't been treating your pet well enough. For those without a furry companion, this movie is also relevant to you. Teaching you to treasure; treasure your friends & family because you can never foretell when they might depart. Dog - man’s best friend is without doubt something most of us can relate to, since it does exist in real life for us to appreciate its unconditional love & loyalty.

Director Katsuhide Motoki certainly does an admirable job pulling viewers’ tears with this wonderfully emotive story. This plot may be simple but I think simplicity is the best means to depict a story of such nature. This movie is definitely going to melt even the coldest of hearts. I must reveal that it made me shed tears like a baby & any movie that can do something like that to me deserves full marks. Incidentally, his previous work “Quill” drew my tears too.
