it's hitting me

The current recession tsunami is finally hitting me.
As the nature of my job industry relies heavily on economic outlook, such situation pose a huge challenge in achieving sales targets.
To make it worse, the main source of revenue for my employer comes very much from advertising revenue. Hence, when prospects look weak, our P&L are greatly affected.

And so in view of such situation, they will be implementing a few new measures to counter the current recession.

The 2 main points that hit me most:

1. Common Leave Days

The application of annual leave for all employees on common days.
This allows operations to be shut down, thereby reducing utility costs and other overheads.
It will affect ALL employees, except those performing 24/7 services such as News, DMC operations, Live Radio and Advertising Administration. Staff who have to continue their duties while the company is on common leave will clear their leave at a later date. The scheme will kick off during this coming Lunar New Year period, when we will shut down from 28 to 30 January 2009 following the nation-wide holidays of 26 and 27 January.
*That leaves me with 14 days AL to play with after deducting 7 days of Common Leave Days*

2. Alternate Short Week Scheme

The application of No Pay Leave for all employees on common days.
The principle is that we will reduce our work hours in line with the expected business volume. Every alternate week, we will adopt a 4-day week and one of the days will be declared a common “Company Day Off”. As there is no work on this Day Off, no salary will be paid. Across the 52 weeks of a year, there will therefore be 26 “Company Days Off”. Staff who are required to perform 24/7 duties will be required to take their “Company Day Off ” at another time within the calendar month.
* That is about 10% pay cut by taking No Pay Leave during Company Days Off*

i guess i will have more time to spend with u all.
Now i muz go make my holiday plans carefully with the limited AL left!
